C. 2. 103 liable to be taxed or rated in any manner whatfoever, by reafon of their faid Offices or Employments, or any Salary arifing thereby ; this Act, or any other Law or Statute, to the contrary notwithftanding. CXX. And be it further enafted by the Authority aforefaid, That where the Commiffioners appointed Cnmmi/fioners to execute this prefent Act in any County, Divifion, Hundred, Riding, City, Town or Place, or any five mi Y- before 2.9 or more of them, fhall have good Reafon to fufpeft that the AfTefTors appointed for any Parifh or Place, ? spi: " 6 *j. purfuant to any Aft or Acts of Parliament for granting an Aid or Aids to the Crown by a Land Tax or f e (r Jr5) w ho have Land Taxes, have, in Fraud of any Parifh or Place for which they are Affeflbrs, fince the fixth Day of not charged their May one thoufand fever) hundred and feventeen, been omitted to be charged or affeffed for any of their Eftates fince 6 own Eftates, which ought to have been charged or affeffed to fuch Land Tax or Land Taxes, it fhall be Ma - V I 7 I 7i lawful for fuch Commiffioners for fuch County, Divilion, Hundred, City, Riding, Town or Place reflec- tively, or any five or more of them, and they are hereby authorized and required at fuch convenient Time or Times before the twenty-ninth Day of September-, which fhall be in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hundred and fixty-four, to fummon and call before them the AfPffors for the Time being, fince the' faid fixth Day of May one thoufand feven hundred and feventeen, for fuch Parifhes and Places reflectively, and to examine fuch A {Tenors, or any of them, or any other Ferfon or Perfons, upon Oath (which Oath and "amine or Oaths the faid Commiffioners are hereby impowered and required to administer) for Difcovery or Proof ln .tm upon Oath, of any fuch Fraud or Omiffion, fince the faid fixth Day of May one thoufand feven hundred and feven- teen ; and as the faid Commiffioners,' or the major Part of them prefent, fhall find the Cafe to be, they fhaH'compute the Wrong which any fuch Parifh or Place hath fuftained by reafon or occafion of any fuch Fraud or Omiffion, and fhall award Satisfaction to be made accordingly to fuch Parifhes or Places refpec- and award Satif- tively, by the refpeftive AfTeilors, whofe Eftates have been fo omitted to be charged or affefTed as aforefaid ; f '" lon > and the fail Commiffioners fhall, by Warrant or Warrants under their Hands and Seals, caufe the Sum or to be levied and Sums fo awarded to be levied upon the Perfons, or the Executors or Adminiftrators of the Perfons refpec- paid to the CoU tively, who have been fo omitted to be charged or affeffed as aforefaid, and upon their Goods and Chattels lea ° rs - refpeftively ; all which Sums fo to be levied fhall be paid into the Hands of the Collectors of the Land Tax, to be appointed purfuant to this Act for fuch refpeftive Parifhes and Places ; to the end the faid Parifhes and Places refpectively may have the Benefit thereof, and may be eafed accordingly in their Pro- portion to this prefent Aid, or to the next Aid or Aids which fhall be granted to his Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors, by a Land Tax : Provided neverthelefs, That the ghiota of the Aid granted to his Majefty fhall not be leffened for any fuch Parifh or Place. CXXI. Provided always, and be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That the Sum appointed Afleflments on by this Act to be raifed by the Town of Cambridge, fhall be raifed and levied by rating all Manors, Mef- Jj ie Town ° f fuages, Lands and Tenements, Woods, Underwoods, Coppices, Fifhings, Locks, Wears and Sluices upon „;^" n 6 jja the River Cam, alias Grant, Tythes, Tolls, Markets, Fairs, Booths, Stalls and Standings in fuch Fairs norS; & c . and on and Markets, and the Rents and Profits of the fame, and all other Herediaments, of what Nature or Kind Fifhings, &c. on foever they be, fituate, lying and being, happening or arifing, in the faid Town, or within the Bounds, the Rivet Cam. Limits and Precincts thereof; and alfo all Eftates in Goods, Wares, Merchandizes, and other Chattels and Perfonal Eftates whatfoever belonging to the faid Town, or any the Members of he fame, except only fuch Perfonal Efhte as in this Ait before is excepted. ' CXXIII. And whereas Fairs are ufualfy held for fome fhort Time in the Year only, by means whereof ' it may be impofiible to levy the Proportions to be affeffed by virtue of this Aft, on the Fairs to be held

CXXIV. And it is hereby enafted and declared, That the faid Collectors fhall have all fuch Powers Tenants of of making fuch Diftrefs as is hereby given to Colieftors in other Cafes ; and the feveral and refpeftive Booths > & c - t0 Tenants of all fuch Boo:hs, Stalls and Standings, which fhall be rated by virtue of this Aft, are hereby [^ deduft them required and authorized to pay fuch Sum or Sums of Money as fhall be rated thereon, and to deduct the ut of their fame out of the Rent payable for fuch Booths to their refpective Landlords. Rents, &c. CXXV.
