  1. கண்ணிமை கைநொடி அளவே மாத்திரை.
    The twinkling of the eye, or the snapping of the fingers, is the measure of a moment of time.

  2. கண்ணியில் அகப்பட்ட மான்போல் கலங்குகிறான்.
    He is dismayed like a deer caught in a snare.

  3. கண்ணியில் அகப்பட்ட கரிக்குருவிபோல் கலங்குகிறான்.
    He is agitated as an ensnared blackbird.

  4. கண்ணிற் பட்டாற் கரிக்குமா, புருவத்திற் பட்டாற் கரிக்குமா ?
    When will it give pain, when it hits the eye or the eye-brow?

  5. கண்ணினால் எண்ணுவான்.
    He can count with his eyes—at sight.

  6. கண்ணிற் புண் வந்தால் கண்ணாடி பார்க்கல் ஆகாது.
    When the eyes become sore, one cannot see them reflected in a mirror.

  7. கண்ணின்முன்னே ஒன்று சொல்லிக் காணாத இடத்திலே இரண்டு சொல்லுகிறது.
    To assert a thing when in sight and to contradict it when out of sight.

  8. கண்ணிலே எண்ணெய் பட்டாற் கரிக்குமோ பிடரியில் பட்டால் கரிக்குமோ ?
    Will oil give pain when it falls into the eye, or on the back of the neck?

  9. கண்ணிற் பட்ட கையைத் தறிப்பார் இல்லை.
    No one cuts off the hand because it has struck the eye.

  10. கண்ணிலே பட்டால் விரலைத் தறிக்கிறதா ?
    Should it strike the eye is the finger to be cut off.

  11. கண்ணிலே வருகிறது புருவத்திலே.
    The eye brow has received that which threatened the eye.
