  1. திரு வாசல் ஆண்டியும் ஒருவேளைக்கு உதவுவான்.
    Even a religious mendicant at the temple gate will be of some use at times.

  2. திருவாசகத்திற்கு உருகாதார் ஒரு வாசகத்திற்கும் உருகார்.
    Those who are unaffected by Tiruvasakam will not be moved by any other composition.

  3. திருவாக்குக்கு எதிர்வாக்கு உண்டோ?
    Do the words of the great admit of contradiction?

  4. திருவிளக்கு இல்லா வீட்டில் பேய் குடியிருக்கும்.
    Demons dwell in the house that is not illumined by a sacred lamp.
    To smear a room with cow-dung, especially on Friday, and to keep a lamp burning through the night, are observances pleasing to the goddess of prosperity.

  5. திருவிளக்கு இட்டாரைத் தெய்வம் அறியும்,நெய்வார்த்து உண்டாரை நெஞ்சு அறியும்.
    The Deity knows those who place sacred lamps, and the mind knows who eats ghee and rice.

  6. திரை கடல் ஓடியும் திரவியம் தேடு.
    Acquire wealth though compelled to cross the stormy ocean.

  7. தில்லுமுல்லும் திரியா வரமும்.
    Lies and tricks.

  8. திறந்த கதவுக்கு திறவுகோல் தேடுவானேன்?
    Why seek the key of an open door?

  9. திறந்த வீட்டிலே நாய் நுழைந்தாற்போல.
    As if a dog entered an open house.

  10. தினத்தவ நிலையில் மனத்தை நிறுத்து.
    Daily fix your mind on divine things.

  11. தினவுக்குச் சொறிதல் இதம்.
    Scratching is agreeable where itching exists.
