Roe, Sir Charles Arthur, Kt. (1897), K.B. (1897), LL.D., I.C.S.; b. 1847; s. of John B. Roe; educ: at Merton College, Oxford; B.A., 1862; M.A., 1894; joined service in Bengal, 1863; and retired, 1898; was Chief Judge, Punjab Chief Court, 1887-9 and 1895-9; Vice-Chancellor, Punjab University. Publications: History of the Land Revenue Settlement of Bombay; translation of three modern Persian Plays; and a translation of “Yusuf and Zuleika”; Edited the “Bostan”.
