Barwa Daadashar. Rai Sahib: Member of the Gilghat Local Board and Education Sub Committee; born, 1855; educated at Sibsagar High School and at Calcutta; entered Service, 1873; retired, 1905; helped to found a charitable Dispensary at Khumtai. Address: Khumtai-Leti Kujan, Gilghat, Assam.

Basant Singh, Sardar, Rai Bahadu. Assistant Engineer; born, 1858: educated, Lahore Government school and College; entered service as Overseer, Quetta, 1878. Address: Quetta, Baluchistan.

Bastar Raja of Rudra Pratab Deo; b. 18S5; educated at the Raipur Raj Kumar College; succeeded to gaddi, 1881. The Raja is a Somvanshi Rajput and claims descent from Prataparudra of Warangal. The State remained independent, but about the Commencement of the 19th century, owing to dissensions in the faimly and Consequent disorder the Mahrattas
