The heart is very treacherous, and if we do not guard its firſt emotions, we ſhall not afterwards be able to prevent its ſighing for impoſſibilities. If there are any inſuperable bars to an union in the common way, try to diſmiſs the dangerous tenderneſs, or it will undermine your comfort, and betray you into many errors.
