LXXXVI--—An Act to Refund ito the Territory of [hah the Expenses incurred by July 17, 1854. said Territory in suppressing Indian Hostilities. mi Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be, Expenses inand he is hereby, authorized and directed to examine into and ascertain ¤¤¤¢d i¤}850 the amount of expenses incurred by the said Territory in the suppression 3:;£E;j$§;l;' of Indian hostilities within said Territory during the years eighteen hun- hostilities to be dred and fifty and eighteen hundred and fifty-one; and that the amount Paidof such expenses, when so ascertained, be paid into the treasury of said Territory: Provided That the sum so paid shall not exceed in amount pm,-ddd, twenty thousand nine hundred and forty dollars and sixty-tive cents, which amount is hereby appropriated out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated. """""" Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be, _Expenses made and he is hereby, authorized and directed to adjust and settle, on just and $,‘;§‘;‘; equitable principles, all claims for services rendered in the late war with be adjusted and the Rogue River Indians in Oregon -— known as the Rogue River War -— paidaccording to the muster-rolls of the same; also for subsistence, forage, medical stores, and expenditures, as well as for any other necessary and proper supplies furnished for the prosecution of said war; and that, on such adjustment, [the same shall] be paid out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
