To provide for a temporary extension of the public debt limit.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That (a) subsection (a) of the first section of the Act of May 15, 1987, entitled "An Act to provide for a temporary increase in the public debt limit" (Public Law 100-40) is amended by striking out "July 17, 1987" and inserting in lieu thereof "August 6, 1987". (b) The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect on the date of the enactment of this Act.
