103 STAT. 854 PUBLIC LAW 101-144 —NOV. 9, 1989 $1,000,000 to indemnify any public housing agency that receives assistance under section 14 of the Act to test and abate lead-based paint in the Lead-Based Paint Abatement Demonstration Program under section 302(d)(2)(A) of the Lead-Based Paint Poisoning Preven- tion Act (42 U.S.C. 4822(d)(2)(A)) and any person under contract with such agency, with respect to all or parts of claims arising from such testing or abatement, in accordance with the terms and conditions that the Secretary shall specify for the validation, processing, and payment of claims, and any other matters concerning the adminis- tration of the amount set siside: Provided, That any balances not obligated before October 1, 1992, shall be made available without regard to this paragraph. Of the funds made available by this Act for Annual Contributions for Assisted Housing, $896,000 shall be for project-beised assistance under the section 8 existing housing certificate program (42 U.S.C. 1437f) for the Ganado Acres project.. TITLE III INDEPENDENT AGENCIES AMERICAN BATTLE MONUMENTS COMMISSION SALARIES AND EXPENSES For necessary expenses, not otherwise provided for, of the Amer- ican Battle Monuments Commission, including the acquisition of land or interest in land in foreign countries; purchases and repair of uniforms for caretakers of national cemeteries and monuments outside of the United States and its territories and possessions; rent of office and garage space in foreign countries; purchase (one for replacement only) and hire of passenger motor vehicles; and insur- ance of official motor vehicles in foreign countries, when required by law of such countries; $16,000,000, to remain available until ex- 36 USC 121b. pended: Provided, That where station allowance has been authorized by the Department of the Army for officers of the Army serving the Army at certain foreign stations, the same allowance shall be authorized for officers of the Armed Forces assigned to the Commis- sion while serving at the same foreign stations, and this appropria- tion is hereby made available for the payment of such allowance: 36 USC 122. Provided further. That when traveling on business of the Commis- sion, officers of the Armed Forces serving as members or as Secretary of the Commission may be reimbursed for expenses as provided for civilian members of the Commission: Provided further, 36 USC 122a. That the Commission shall reimburse other Government agencies, including the Armed Forces, for salary, pay, and allowances of personnel assigned to it: Provided further. That section 509 of the general provisions carried in title V of this Act shall not apply to the funds provided under this heading: Provided further. That not more than $125,000 of the private contributions to the Korean War Memo- rial Fund may be used for administrative support of the Korean War Veterans Memorial Advisory Board including travel by mem- bers of the board authorized by the Commission, travel allowances to conform to those provided by Federal Travel regulations.
