That $500,000 of the amount available for research, demonstration, and evaluation activities shall be awarded to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and University of Pennsylvania for a study of the efficacy of surgical versus non-surgical management of abdominal aneurysms: Provided further. That $650,000 of the amount available for research, demonstration, and evaluation activities shall be awarded to the Vascular Surgery Outcome Initiative at Dartmouth College: Provided further. That up to $300,000 of the amount available for research, demonstration, and evaluation activities shall be awarded to the United States-Mexico Border Counties Coalition for a study to determine the unreimbursed costs incurred to treat undocumented aliens for medical emergencies in southwest border States, their border counties, and hospitals within the jurisdiction of these States and counties: Provided further. That $1,700,000 of the amount available for research, demonstration, and evaluation activities shall be awarded to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation in Los Angeles for a demonstration of residential and outpatient treatment facilities: Provided further, That $350,000 of the amount available for research, demonstration, and evaluation activities shall be awarded to the Cook County, Illinois Bureau of Health for the Asthma Champion Initiative demonstration to reduce morbidity and mortality from asthma in high prevalence areas: Provided further, That $1,000,000 of the amount available for research, demonstration, amd evaluation activities shall be awarded to the West Virginia University School of Medicine's Eye Center to test interventions and improve the quality of life for individuals with low vision, with a particular focus on the elderly: Provided further, That $1,000,000 of the amount available for research, demonstration, and evaluation activities shall be awarded to the Iowa Department of Public Health for the establishment and operation of a mercantile prescription drug purchasing cooperative or non-profit corporation demonstration: Provided further. That $691,000 of the amount available for research, demonstration, and evaluation activities shall be awarded to Ohio State University to determine the benefits of compliance packaging: Provided further. That $855,000 of the amount available for research, demonstration, and evaluation activities shall be awarded to Children's Hospice International for a demonstration project to provide a continuum of care for children with life-threatening conditions and their families: Provided further. That $921,000 of the amount available for research, demonstration, and evaluation activities shall be awarded to Equip for Equality for a demonstration project to document the impact of an independent investigative unit that will examine deaths or other serious allegations of abuse and neglect of people with disabilities at facilities in Illinois: Provided further.
