116 STAT. 2910 PUBLIC LAW 107-347—DEC. 17, 2002 (b) TECHNICAL AND CONFORMING AMENDMENT.—The table of chapters for title 44, United States Code, is amended by inserting after the item relating to chapter 35 the following: "36. Management and Promotion of Electronic Government Services 3601". SEC. 102. CONFORMING AMENDMENTS. (a) ELECTRONIC GOVERNMENT AND INFORMATION TECH- NOLOGIES.— (1) IN GENERAL.—Chapter 3 of title 40, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 304 the following new section: ^§ 305. Electronic Government and information technologies "The Administrator of General Services shall consult with the. Administrator of the Office of Electronic Government on programs undertaken by the General Services Administration to promote electronic Government and the efficient use of information technologies by Federal agencies.". (2) TECHNICAL AND CONFORMING AMENDMENT.—The table of sections for chapter 3 of such title is amended by inserting after the item relating to section 304 the following: "305. Electronic Government and information technologies.". (b) MODIFICATION OF DEPUTY DIRECTOR FOR MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS.— Section 503(b) of title 31, United States Code, is amended— (1) by redesignating paragraphs (5), (6), (7), (8), and (9), as paragraphs (6), (7), (8), (9), and (10), respectively; and (2) by inserting after paragraph (4) the following: "(5) Cheur the Chief Information Officers Council established under section 3603 of title 44.". (c) OFFICE OF ELECTRONIC GOVERNMENT.— (1) IN GENERAL. —Chapter 5 of title 31, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 506 the following:

    • § 507. Office of Electronic Government

"The Office of Electronic Government, established under section 3602 of title 44, is an office in the Office of Memagement and Budget.". (2) TECHNICAL AND CONFORMING AMENDMENT.—The table of sections for chapter 5 of title 31, United States Code, is Eimended by inserting after the item relating to section 506 the following: "507. Office of Electronic Government.". TITLE II—FEDERAL MANAGEMENT AND PROMOTION OF ELECTRONIC GOV- ERNMENT SERVICES 44 USC 3501 SEC. 201. DEFINITIONS. Except as otherwise provided, in this title the definitions under sections 3502 and 3601 of title 44, United States Code, shall apply.
