12 2 STA T . 2 534PUBLIC LA W 11 0– 2 7 5 —J UL Y 15 , 200 8thelis t ofac c r e d itatio n or g ani z ations designated u nder su bp aragraph (B).‘ ‘(ii) SPECIALRU LE FO R ACCRE D I T ATIO NS DONE PRIOR TO RE M O V AL FROM LIST OF DESI G NATED ACCREDI - TATION ORGANI Z ATIONS. —I n the case w here the Sec- retar y re m o v es an organization from the list of accredi- tation organizations designated under subparagraph (B) , any supplier that is accredited by the organization during the period beginning on the date on which the organization is designated as an accreditation organization under subparagraph (B) and ending on the date on which the organization is removed from such list shall be considered to have been accredited by an organization designated by the Secretary under subparagraph (B) for the remaining period such accreditation is in effect. ‘‘( 3 ) C RITERIA FOR ACCREDITATION.— T he Secretary shall establish procedures to ensure that the criteria used by an accreditation organization designated under paragraph ( 2 )(B) to evaluate a supplier that furnishes the technical component of advanced diagnostic imaging services for the purpose of accreditation of such supplier is specific to each imaging modality. Such criteria shall include— ‘‘( A ) standards for q ualifications of medical personnel who are not physicians and who furnish the technical component of advanced diagnostic imaging services

‘‘(B) standards for qualifications and responsibilities of medical directors and supervising physicians, including standards that recognize the considerations described in paragraph ( 4 ); ‘‘(C) procedures to ensure that equipment used in fur- nishing the technical component of advanced diagnostic imaging services meets performance specifications; ‘‘( D ) standards that require the supplier have proce- dures in place to ensure the safety of persons who furnish the technical component of advanced diagnostic imaging services and individuals to whom such services are fur- nished; ‘‘( E ) standards that require the establishment and maintenance of a quality assurance and quality control program by the supplier that is adequate and appropriate to ensure the reliability, clarity, and accuracy of the tech- nical quality of diagnostic images produced by such sup- plier; and ‘‘( F ) any other standards or procedures the Secretary determines appropriate. ‘‘(4) R ECOGNITION IN STANDARDS FOR T H E EVALUATION OF MEDICAL DIRECTORS AND SUPERVISING PH Y SICIANS.—The stand- ards described in paragraph (3)(B) shall recognize whether a medical director or supervising physician— ‘‘(A) in a particular specialty receives training in advanced diagnostic imaging services in a residency pro- gram; ‘‘(B) has attained, through e x perience, the necessary expertise to be a medical director or a supervising physi- cian; Procedu re s.
