RO V IDING IN F ORMA - TION. —T he S ecretar y — ‘‘( A )mayta k e into acco u nt the recommendations descri b ed in p aragraph ( 1 ); and ‘‘( B ) shall— ‘‘(i) pro v ide information collected under paragraph (1) when re q uesting applications for funding under this title; and ‘‘(ii) make available to applicants a list of areas identified as areas of national need. ‘‘(d) S U RVE Y .—The Secretary shall assist grantees in developing a survey to administer to students who have completed programs under this title to determine postgraduate employment , education, or training. All grantees, where applicable, shall administer such survey once every two years and report survey results to the Sec- retary. ’ ’. SEC.602 . GRADU A T EA N D UNDERGRADUATE L ANGUAGE AND AREA CENTERS AND P R O GRA M S. Section 60 2 (20 U .S.C. 1122) is amended— (1) in subsection (a)— (A) in paragraph (1), by striking subparagraph (A) and inserting the following

‘‘(A) I N GENERA L .—The Secretary is authori z ed to make grants to institutions of higher education or consortia of such institutions for the purpose of establishing, strength- ening, and operating— ‘‘(i) comprehensive foreign language and area or international studies centers and programs; and ‘‘(ii) a diverse network of undergraduate foreign language and area or international studies centers and programs.’’; (B) in paragraph (2)— (i) by striking ‘‘and’’ at the end of subparagraph ( G ); (ii) by striking the period at the end of subpara- graph ( H ) and inserting a semicolon; and (iii) by inserting after subparagraph (H) the fol- lowing new subparagraphs: ‘‘(I) supporting instructors of the less commonly taught languages; and ‘‘( J ) pro j ects that support students in the science, tech- nology, engineering, and mathematics fields to achieve for- eign language proficiency.’’; and (C) in paragraph ( 4 )— (i) in subparagraph (C)— (I) by striking ‘‘ P rograms of linkage or out- reach’’ and inserting ‘‘Partnerships or programs of linkage and outreach’’; and (II) by inserting ‘‘, including Federal or State scholarship programs for students in related areas’’ before the period at the end; (ii) in subparagraph ( E )— (I) by striking ‘‘foreign area’’ and inserting ‘‘area studies’’; Grants.De a dli ne.
