( B ) by redesignating subparagraphs ( D ) through ( J ) as subparagraphs (F) through ( L ), respecti v ely; (C) by inserting after subparagraph (C) the following: ‘‘(D) T he amount and type of support provided by Coali - tion Forces to the I ra q i S ecurity Forces at each level of operational readiness . ‘‘( E ) The number of Iraqi battalions in the Iraqi Army currently conducting operations and the type of operations being conducted.’’; (D) by redesignating subparagraphs ( H ) through (L) (as redesignated by subparagraph (B) of this paragraph) as subparagraphs (I) through ( M ), respectively; (E) by inserting after subparagraph ( G ) (as redesig- nated by subparagraph (B) of this paragraph) the following: ‘‘(H) The level and effectiveness of the Iraqi Security Forces under the Ministry of Defense in provinces where the U nited States has formally transferred responsibility for the security of the province to the Iraqi Security Forces under the P rovincial Iraqi Control (PIC) process.’’; and (F) in subparagraph (I) (as redesignated by subpara- graphs (B) and (D) of this paragraph) — (i) in clause (iv), by stri k ing ‘‘and’’ at the end; (ii) in clause (v), by striking the period at the end and inserting ‘‘; and’’; and (iii) by adding at the end the following: ‘‘(vi) the level and effectiveness of the Iraqi Police and other Ministry of Interior Forces in provinces where the United States has formally transferred responsibility for the security of the province to the Iraqi Security Forces under the Provincial Iraqi Control (PIC) process.’’. (b) E F F ECTIV ED A TE.—The amendments made by subsection (a) shall apply with respect to each report required to be submitted to Congress under section 901 0 of the Department of Defense Appro- priations Act, 2 00 7 on or after the date of the enactment of this Act. SEC.12 2 5 . R E PO R T O N S U PPORT F RO MI R A N FOR ATTAC K SA G AINST COA L ITION FORCES IN IRA Q . (a) R E POR TRE QU IRE D .— N ot later than 6 0 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, and every 1 8 0 days thereafter, the Secretary of Defense, in coordination with the Director of National Intelligence, shall submit to the congressional defense committees a report describing and assessing in detail— (1) any support or direction provided to anti-coalition forces in Iraq by the Government of Iran or its agents; (2) the strategy and ambitions in Iraq of the Government of Iran; and ( 3 ) any strategy or efforts by the United States Government to counter the activities of agents of the Government of Iran in Iraq. (b) FOR M .—Each report required under subsection (a) shall be submitted in unclassified form, to the ma x imum extent prac- ticable, but may contain a classified annex, if necessary.
