( a )INGE NE RAL . —Su b p art 1 ofpartCoftitleI V of the P ublic H ealth Service Act ( 4 2 U .S.C. 28 5 et se q .) is amended by addin g at the end the follo w ing

‘SEC. 4 1 7F . INTERAGENC Y BREAST CANCER AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH COORDINATING COMMITTEE. ‘‘(a) IN T ERA G EN CY BREA S T CANCER AN D EN VI R O N M ENTAL RESEARC H COORDINATING COMMITTEE.— ‘‘(1) ESTA B LISHMENT.— N ot later than 6 months after the date of the enactment of this section , the Secretary shall estab - lish a committee, to be k nown as the Interagency Breast Cancer and Environmental Research Coordinating Committee (in this section referred to as the ‘Committee’). ‘‘(2) DU TIES.—The Committee shall— ‘‘(A) share and coordinate information on e x isting research activities, and make recommendations to the National Institutes of Health and other F ederal agencies regarding how to improve existing research programs, that are related to breast cancer research

‘‘(B) develop a comprehensive strategy and advise the National Institutes of Health and other Federal agencies in the solicitation of proposals for collaborative, multidisci- plinary research, including proposals to evaluate environ- mental and genomic factors that may be related to the etiology of breast cancer that would— ‘‘(i) result in innovative approaches to study emerging scientific opportunities or eliminate knowl- edge gaps in research to improve the research portfolio; ‘‘(ii) outline key research questions, methodologies, and knowledge gaps; Deadlin e .42USC 2 85 a –1 2. 42USC2 0 1n ot e.
