(ii) local historical organi z ations; and (iii) other appropriate entities; and ( C ) an estimate of the amo u nt re q uired to carr y out the recommendations under su b paragraphs ( A ) and (B) . ( 4 )C ONSULTA T I ON.— I n conducting the theme study , the Secretary shall consult with— (A) the Secretary of the Air F orce; (B) State and local officials; (C) State historic preservation offices; and ( D ) other interested organizations and individuals. ( 5 ) REP O R T.— N ot later than 3 years after the date on which funds are made available to carry out this section, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the H ouse of Representatives and the Committee on E nergy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report that describes the findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the theme study. (c) COL DW AR AD V ISOR Y CO M MITTEE.— ( 1 ) ESTA B LIS H MENT.—As soon as practicable after funds are made available to carry out this section, the Secretary shall establish an advisory committee, to be k nown as the ‘ ‘Cold War Advisory Committee ’ ’, to assist the Secretary in carrying out this section. ( 2 ) COMPOSITION.— T he Advisory Committee shall be com - posed of 9 members, to be appointed by the Secretary, of whom— (A) 3 shall have e x pertise in Cold War history; (B) 2 shall have expertise in historic preservation; (C) 1 shall have expertise in the history of the U nited States; and (D) 3 shall represent the general public. (3) CHAIRPERSON.—The Advisory Committee shall select a chairperson from among the members of the Advisory Com- mittee. (4) COMPENSATION.—A member of the Advisory Committee shall serve without compensation but may be reimbursed by the Secretary for expenses reasonably incurred in the perform- ance of the duties of the Advisory Committee. (5) M EETIN G S.— O n at least 3 occasions, the Secretary (or a designee) shall meet and consult with the Advisory Committee on matters relating to the theme study. (d) INTERPRETIVE HANDBOO K ON THE COLD WAR.—Not later than 4 years after the date on which funds are made available to carry out this section, the Secretary shall— (1) prepare and publish an interpretive handbook on the Cold War; and (2) disseminate information in the theme study by other appropriate means. (e) AUTHORI Z ATION O F APPROPRIATIONS.—There are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $ 5 0 0,000. SEC.721 1. BAT T L E OF CA MD E N, SO U T H CA R OL I NA. (a) IN G ENERAL.—The Secretary shall complete a special resource study of the site of the Battle of Camden fought in South Publicat i on.De a d line.
