Be it enacted by the Senate and House ey" Representatives of the United r?°d,“;?“°*,Z ap` States of America in Congress assembled, That the following sums be, and O? they are hereby, appropriated, to be paid out of any money in the tY*9_t§<»V¤*‘¤m¤¤t treasury not otherwise appropriated, to supply deficiencies in the appro- jlfleygy priations for the service of the government for the fiscal year ending June 1869. i thirtieth, eighteen hundred and sixty-nine: For the contingent expenses of the Treasury Department, and the sev- C°¤*i¤3°¤°l6$ eral bureaus, namely: For Fuel, light, gas, labor, and contingent expenses gfugxiiijry D8` of the treasury building and five other buildings occupied by the Treasury Department, forty thousand dollars. And after the present fiscal year there shall only be employed and paid Y’f<>ViSi<>¤} f<>F for labor in the treasury building and the five other buildings used by ggggtizlfeggg the department,.for lighting, cleaning, and general care and superintend- of buildings used ence thereof; the following persons, to wit: one superintendent, at a *£§U2;§;‘S“‘"Y salary of twenty-five hundred dollars a year ; one clerk of class four and Spice,-S, ` one clerk of class one; one engineer in charge of heating apparatus, at clerks. l¤b<>Y€fS, a salary of twelve hundred dollars a, year; five firemen, at a salary of gffnd thm six hundred dollars each per year; one machinist and gas-fitter, at a salary of twelve hundred dollars per year ; one captain of the watch, at a salary of fourteen hundred dollars per year; one storekeeper, at a salary of one thousand dollars per year; thirty watchman, [watchman,] $€¢y¤l·><Viat a salary of eight hundred and twenty dollars each per year; thirty gtiiiigog appro` laborers, at a salary of six hundred dollars each per year; seventy women, as cleaners, at a salary of one hundred and eighty dollars each per year: And it is hereby provided, That no account for contingent expenses at A9¤<>¤¤*¤ f<>1‘ any of the bureaus of the Treasury Department shall hereafter be allowed, ;°;2;;gg?tb$,°j` except on the certificate of the general superintendent of the treasury reaus of Treasbuildings that they are necessary and proper, and that the prices paid }g€;6’é°°€;’C;"’t”·l' are just and reasonable; and the said superintendent shall keep a full, gw_ ’ p’ just, and accurate account in detail of all amounts expended under the S¤t>i;‘i¤f<=¤d· head of contingent expenses for the several bureaus of the Treasury :Q;;°;S_e°p a°` Department, which shall be transmitted to Congress by the Secretary of _Secretary of the Treasury at every December session.
