Gibbons, late postmaster at St. J0lm’s, Michigan, to allow him S- Glbb°“°i a sum not exceeding five hundred dollars as indemnification for a like amount belonging to the post-office fund and stolen from him by burglars, and which amount has been paid to the United States by said Gibbons: P*`°'l*°· Provided, [That] it shall be proven satisfactorily to the Postmaster-General that funds belonging to the Post-Oiiice Department to the amount of five hundred dollars were stolen by burglars, and that said Gibbons was not guilty of neglect in the custody thereofZ N;??" And be it ficrt/cer resolved, That Luther McNeal be paid the ' sum of one hundred and seventy-five dollars and forty-six cents for money and postage stamps belonging to the United States, and which were stolen from the post·oi’tice at the town of Lancaster, Erie county, New York, while he was postmaster, and which sum he has paid to the government on settlement with the Post-Office Department, as such postmaster, and that such sum be paid out of the post-ofiice fund by the Post· PWM master—General upon the said McNeal making proof to his satisfaction that said money and stamps were stolen without any fault of said McNeal.
