United States under the several aots levying direct taxes, and for other purposes. ·;····~··*—·- Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the time limited for the _ Time f<>¤‘v<l¤¢¤¤· redemption of direct tax lands by the act entitled “An aet to provide ;f’¥d‘l‘},"°,f;f°”X lor the redemption and sale of lands held by the United States under du S M m °(` the several acts levying direot taxes and for other purposes " approved June eighth eighteen hundred and seventy-two, be, and is hereby, gg} extended to the first day of February, eighteen hundred and seventy- a " seven; and all acts or parts of aots inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed. Approved, August 14, 1876. CHAP. 274.—·An act to punish the counterfeiting of trademark goods and tho sale Aug. I4, 1876. or dealing in of counterfeit trade-mark goods. “""‘-—""—" Bc it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives <y" the United _ States of America in Congress assembled, That every person who shall Ut?;; with intent to defraud, deal in or sell, or keep or offer for sale, or cause {,.,dO_,,fQ,,,r]{ g(,,,Q],,_ or procure the sale oi, any goods of substantially the same descriptive properties as those referred to in the registration of any trade-mark, pursuant to the statutes of the United States, to which, or to the package in which the same are put up, is fraudulently affixed said trade mark, or any oolorable imitation thereof, calculated to deceive the public, knowing the same to be counterfeit or not the genuine goods referred to in said registration, shall, on conviction thereof, be punished by fine not exceeding one thousand dollars, or imprisonment not more than two years, or both such hue and imprisonment. _ _ Sec. 2. That every person who fraudulently aifixes, or causes or pro- Amxlfffi '°€-$*3* cures to be fraudulently affixed, any trademark registered pursuant to ( the statutes of the United States, or any eolorable imitation thereof, calculated to deceive the public, to any goods, of substantially the same descriptive properties as those referred to in said registration, or to the package in which they are put up, knowing the same to be counterfeit, or not the genuine goods, referred to in said registration, shall on conviction thereof, be punished as prescribed in the nrst section of this act. Sec. 3. That every person who fraudulently nlls, or causes or procures r‘raua¤1e¤t1y to be fraudulently iilled, any package to which is aiilxed any trademark, filling Pf¤9k¤§<> registered pursuant to the statutes of the United States, or any color- a‘L‘f(g‘“°°‘°d able imitation thereof, calculated to deceive the publie, with any goods ' of substantially the same descriptive properties as those referred to in said registration, knowing the same to be counterfeit, or not the genuine goods referred to in said registration, shall, on conviction thereof, be punished as prescribed in the first section of this act. _ Sec. 4. That any person or persons who shall, with intent to defraud m£g;‘_lE;‘rt=;jd‘;f)t¤ any person or persons, knowingly and willfully cast, engrave, or manu- Gm, wm, ,,,,,0,,, tg faeture, or have in his, her, or their possession, or buy, sell, offer for defraud. sale, or deal in, any die or dies, plate or plates, brand or brands, engraving or engravings, on wood, stone, metal, or other substance, moulds, or any false representation, likeness, copy, or oolorable imitation of any die, plate, brand, engraving, or mould of any private label, brand, stamp, wrapper, engraving on paper or other substance, or trade mark, registered pursuant to the statutes of the United States, shall, upon oonvic— tion thereof, be punished as prescribed in the first section of this act. w _ _ Sec. 5.
