Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United W. W. Speirs. States of America in Congress assembled, lhat the Secretary of War be, Payment to- and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay to William W. Speirs, late assistant surgeon in the United States Army, such additional sum of money as will make his entire compensation equal to that of assistant surgeon during the period of his active service in that capacity and of his imprisonment in rebel prisons as a prisoner of war, estimating such period from the date of his commission as such surgeon. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Paymaster-General of P°$“*°¤***°· the United States Army be, and he is hereby, required to cause to be paid, out of any money appropriated, or which may hereafter be appropriated, for the payment of the Army of the United States, to Amos B. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United J. H. Duncan. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treas- Cr<¤di¤i¤ ¤¤<‘¤¤¤t ary be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place to the credit of °f· _ the fund for the Post-Omoo Department,out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, on money order account, the sum of ninety- eight dollars; and the Auditor of the Treasury for the Postr0H"ice Department is directed to place the like sum to the credit of J. H. Duncan in his account as postmaster at Elberton, Georgia, it being the amount of surplus money-order funds mailed by said postmaster,July twenty-fourth, eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, for deposit with the postmaster at Atlanta, Georgia; said money having been burned and destroyed with the railroad cars on the Georgia Railroad, on the twenty-fourth day ol` said month, while en route to Atlanta.
