(549 Whereas the pretended defalcation was the result of the failure of the officers of the United States to take possession of the papers and effects of the said quartermaster, at the time of his death, according to the requirement of the Articles of War; and Whereas the enforcement of said judgment would new be unjust: Therefore, Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in Congress assembled, That the district attorney of the United Thomas Snel1,ro States for said district be, and is hereby, authorized and directed to list release, cancel, and satisfy said judgment and discharge of record all liability against said Snell because of said judgment or any proceeding under the same; and that said Snell be relieved and discharged in law from all liability because of said judgment or proceeding. - Approved, March 3, 1881. - CHAP. 179.-An act granting an increase of pension to James H. Reeve. March 3, 1881. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That James H. Reeve, late cap- James H. Reeve tain and brevet major in the Third Regiment New York Volunteer increase of pwlnfantry, be, and he is hereby, granted and allowed, from June twenty- 6*0**- sixth, eighteen hundred and sixty-ve, a pension at the rate of twenty- four dollars per month; and the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place the name of said James H. Reeve on the pension-roll at said rate, in lieu of the pension now paid him, deducting therefrom the amounts already paid him. Approved, March 3, 1881, CHAP. 180.-An act for the relief of Levi Price. March 3, 1881. Bc it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in dengwss assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, directed to pay Levi Price, of Frederick County, Levi Price, we Milfyland, the sum of two hundred dollars, out of any mfmey ll! the fund of wx- Treasury not otherwise appropriated;. and the Secretary of the Treasury is hereby directed to cause to be credited to said Levi Price by the Commissioner of Internal Revenue the sum of one thousand seven hundred and forty dollars and twenty three cents, the amount of tax improperly assessed against him. March 3, 1881- Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place, or cause to be placed, upon the pension-rolls of the United States the name of MMV A- Shemelia, as dependent widowed mother of Wilham H.
