CHS. 829-832. 1888. 1151 CHAP. 829.-An act to grant a pension to "Muck-a-peo-wak-keu-zah," or A¤s¤¤¢ 9,188% "John,” an Indian who aided in saving the lives of many white people in the In- HHH" dian outbreak in Minnesota. in the year eighteen hundred and sixty-two. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Con ress assembled, That the Secretary zI}:,;¤¤k;f}g§°1;W¤k·k¤¤· of the Interior be, and he is heregy, directed to place on the ension- rétlsm. ` roll, at the rate of fifteen dollars per month, the name of Muc]k—a—pec— wak-l<eu;zah, or “J ohn”, an Indian of the Dakota or Sioux tribe, now residing near the city of Hastings, in the county of Dakota, in the State of Minnesota, and who rendered valuable services in behalf of the whitesettlers, and who was instrumental in saving the lives of many white people during the Sioux outbreak and war in the State of Minnesota in the year eighteen hundred and sixty-two, and who then served the United States as a scout, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws. CHAP. 830.-—An act to grant a pension to Elizabeth O’Laughlin, the helpless and August 9, 1888. invalid daughter of Dennis O’Laughlin, late a member of Company I, Ninth Min- _—"‘_""_" nesota Volunteer Infantry. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives cj the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary HDEUF-¤b¤¤¤ 0’I»¤s!¤- of the Interior be, and he is hereby, directed to place upon the pension- reusm. ` roll, at eighteen dollars per mont , the name of Elizabeth O’Laughlin, the helpless and invali daughter of Dennis O’Laughlin, deceased, and late a member of Company I, Ninth Regiment Minnesota Volunteer Infantry, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, and pay the same to her legally constituted guardian.
