Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United J¤c<>bSh¤1¤. States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War ,Hg£§}t§; b°"°”°m° be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to so amend and correct the military record of Jacob Shela, of Portsmouth, Scioto County, _ Ohio, late a private soldier in Company B, Fifty-sixth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, as to remove the charges of desertion, and to show that said Shela was captured by the enemy on June twenty-fifth, eighteen hundred and sixty-two, and paroled on June twentyeighth. eighteen hundred and sixty-two, and permitted by M aior-General Grant, commanding the district, to pass from Memphis, Tennessee, to his home in Ohio, to remain until notified of his exchange or otherwise ordered; and duly exchanged by General Orders, Numbered Ten, War Department, January tenth, eighteen hundred and sixty-three,. and ordered to return to his command; and absent without leave until March fifth, eighteen hundred and sixty-three, when he enlisted in the · Navy of the United States for two years, served faithfully, and was §{)°;j‘;·m honorably discharged at the expiration of his service: Provided, That `no pay or allowances shall become due by reason of this Act. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United g·¤·:_¤t:dGr;¤_gglbmb,° States of America in Conqress assembled, That the Secretary of War is uiwnmge. hereby directed to remove the charge of desertion from the military record of George Gregg, late a private of Company C, Fifty-first Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and to issue to him an honorable dis· §;°;:*;·m charge asof the date of the muster out of said regiment: Provided. 'That no pay, bounty, or other emoluments shall become due or payable by virtue of the passage of this Act. Approved, March 3, 1899.
