For salaries of two hundred and seventy-seven keepers of life-saving K¢¤x>¤¤·¤· and lifeboat stations and of houses of refuge, two hundred and forty- two thousand four hundred dollars. ‘ ’ For pay of crews of surfmen employed at the life-saving and lifeboat Wwe stations, including the old Chicago station, at the uniform rate of sixty- five dollars per month each, during the period of actual employment and three dollars per day for each occasion of service at other times; compensation of volunteers at life-saving and lifeboat stations for actual and deserving service rendered upon any occasion of disaster or in any · eifort to save ersons from drowning, at such rate, not to exceed ten dollars for each volunteer, as the Secretary of the T1‘€2Sl11' may determine; pay of volunteer crews for drill and exercise; fuelyfor stations and houses of refuge; repairs and outfits for same; rebuilding and improvement of same; including use of additional land where necessary; supplies and provisions for houses of refuge and for shipwrecked gersons succored at stations; traveling expenses of officers under or ers from the Treasury Department; commutation of quarters for officers ¤<>mm¤§m¤u of · of the Revenue-Cutter Service detailed for duty in the Life-Saving q°m°”‘ Service; for carrying out the provisions of sections seven an V¤1.22,p.57. eight of the Act approved May fourth, eighteen hundred and eighty- two; for draft animals and their maintenance; for telephone lines and - care of same; and contingent e?enses, including freight, storage, rent, repairs to apparatus, labor, me als, stationery, newspapers for statistica (purposes. advertising, and all other necessary}; expenses not included un er any other head of life-saving stations on the coasts of the United States, one million three hundre and ninety-six thousand three hundred and ten dollars. - For establishing new life-saving stations and lifeboat stations on the New stations sea and lake coasts of the United States, authorized by law, to be available until expended, forty thousand dollars. Revcnuecurter _ Service. · · For expenses of the Revenue-Cutter Service: For pay of captains, Salaries and exlieutenants, captain of engineers, chief engineers an assistant engi--°°"$°°‘ neers, for ay of a constructor, Revenue- utter Service, cadets, and pilots employed, and for rations for the same; for pay of petty officers, buglers, seamen, oilers, firemen, coal heavers, stewards, cooks, and boys, and for rations for the same; for fuel for vessels,_and repairs and outfits for the same; ship chandlery and engineers’ stores for the same; traveling expenses of officers traveling on duty under orders from the Treasur Department; commutation of quarters; for protectionof the seal, Hsheries in Bering Sea and the other waters of Alaska, and the interest of the Government on the seal islands and the sea-otter huntin grounds, and the enforcement of the provisions of i law_in Alaska; Err enforcing the provisions of the Acts relating to the Anchorage.
