Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United mR,,‘§‘gQ,’§*,§§ge‘§fd§,fg,§§ States of America in Congress assembled, That section one of the Act wig yégb S£gr;u€ud_ entitled "An Act to provide ways and means to meet war expendisq_°' ’p' ’ tures, and for other purposes," approved June thirteenth, eighteen _ hundred and ninety-eight, is hereby amended so as to read as follows: m§§$g°f{g§O,§P f°" "That there shall be paid, in lieu of the tax of one dollar now imposed ` by law, a tax of one dollar and sixty cents on all beer, lager beer, ale, porter, and other similar fermented liquors, brewed or manufactured and sold, or stored in warehouse, or removed for consumption or sale, within the United States, by whatever namesuch liquors may be called, for every barrel containing not more than thirty-one gallons; and at a like rate for any other quantity or for the fractional parts of a barrel ,,,,lfé,§3§§Y‘3339’p‘5°1’ authorized and deiined by law.
