Polgfgm For mail depredations and post—office inspectors, including salaries }f,*;;jQ‘gfg’jfd¤**°¤*· of fifteen inspectors in char e of divisions at two thousand five hun- " dred dollars per annum witbout per diem, and six inspectors at two thousand four hundred dollars without rdiem, and fifteen inspectors at two thousand two hundred and fifty didllars per annum without per diem, and fifteen inspectors at two thousand do lars per annum without per diem, and for salaries of post-office inspectors and clerks; and for Perdiem. per diem allowance of inspectors in the field while actually traveling on business for the Department, six hundred thousand dollars: Pro- P¤>¤‘¤><>-1- vided, That the Postmaster—General may, in his discretion, allow post- ·*-¤¤w¤¤¢¤· office inspectors per diem while temporarily located at any place on duty away from home, or their designated domicile, for a period not exceeding twenty consecutive days at any one place, and may make rules and regulations governing the foregoing provisions relating to per diem: And pv·0·z·z'dcrI _]‘ie2·¢}ae0·, That of the amount herein appro- tiglbtgggim i¤f¤¤¤¤- priated not to exceed two thousand dollars may be expended, in the` discretion of the Postmaster-General, for the purpose of securing information concerning violations of the postal laws, and for services and information looking toward the apprehension of criminals.
