Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Risw ¤fW¤Y· States of America in Congress assembled, That each and every grant ¤¤1i‘t2iizit;li;€m(¤¥£t; of right of way and station grounds heretofore made to any rai road ’°$§{j 18 ,,_ ,,83 corporation under the Act of Congress approved March third, eighteen ’ hundred and seventy-tive, entitled "An Act granting to railroads the right of way through the public lands of the United States," where such railroad has not been constructed and the period of five years next following the location of said road, or any section thereof, has now expired, shall be, and hereby is, declared forfeited to the United States, to the extent of any portion of such located line now remaining unconstructed, and the United States hereby resumes the full title to the lands covered thereby freed and discharged from such easement, and the forfeiture hereby declared shall, without need of further assurance or conveyance, inure to the benefit of any owner or owners of land heretofore conveyed by the United States subject to any such nam. grant of right of way or station grounds: Provided, That in any case ~,,,I§‘§§§’,,_““‘l°' °°“` under this Act where construction of the railroad is progressing in good faith at the date of the approval of this Act the forfeiture declared in this Act shall not take effect as to such line of railroad. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives 0 f the United ,pI;ir*jf;*L§;gf,Q;1“m”‘“ States of zlmeriea in Congress assembled, That the half of the following sums named, respectively, is hereby appropriated, out of any money regggmérvm District in the Treasury not otherwise apjpropriated, and the other half out of ` the revenues of the District of olumbia, in full for the purposes fol— lowing, being for the expenses of the government of the District of Columbia for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and seven, namely: ' <*¤¤¤¤¤¤¢¤r¢¤¤¤¤- GENERAL EXPENSES. gé;g¤g;e<£•§;niS_ Fon rzxnonrrvn ormcn: For two Commissioners, at five thousand 8;;,,,,,,, em dollars each; Engineer Commissioner, nine hundred and twenty-four dollars (to make salary five thousand dollars); secretary, two thousand one hundred and sixty dollars; two assistant secretaries to Commissioners, at one thousand two hundred dollars each; two clerks, at one thousand five hundred dollars each; three clerks, at one thousand two hundred dollars each; clerk, six hundred dollars; messenger, six hundred dollars; two messengers, at four hundred and eighty dollars each; stenographer and typewriter, seven hundred and twenty dollars; two drivers, at six hundred dollars each; veterinary surgeon for all horses in the departments of the District government, one thousand two hundred dollars; inspector of buildings, two thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars; principal assistant inspector of buildings, one thousand six hundred dollars; five assistant ins ectors of buildings, at one thousand two hundred dollars each; five assistant inspectors of buildings, at one thousand dollars each; temporary employment of additional assistant inspectors for such time as their seryices may be necessary, two thousand four hundred dollars; two civil engineers or computers,at one thousand five hundred dollars each;
