A PROCLAMATION. ‘ Reg;1$g¤¤N Fwggfst WHEREAS, the Lincoln Forest Reserve, in the Territory of Xew PreariibldiMexico, was established by proclamation dated July twenty-sixth, Xfntcgi pé1%,%f8‘ nineteen hundred and two, and the boundaries `thereof were subse- ’ quently modified by proclamation dated October third, nineteen hun- 6 dred and five; And whereas, it appears tl1at the public good would be promoted by enlarging the said forest reserve to include certain additional lands, in the Territory of New Mexico, which are in part covered with timber; l“¥;g;f°d'**"°° °“‘ g Now, therefore, I, Theodore Roosevelt, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the power in me vested by the Act of (`ongress, approved June fourth, eighteen hundred and ninety-seven. , entitled, “‘An Act making appropriations for sundry civil expenses of Vol- 3°· ¤· 36- the Government for the fiscal vear ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, and for other purposes,” do proclaim that the aforesaid Lincoln Forest Reserve is hereby enlarged to include the said additional lands, and that the boundaries of the reserve are, accordingly, now as shown on the diagram formin a part hereof; V L&¤¢i¤ exerted- Excepting from the force and effect of this prociamation all lands ` which may have been, prior to the date hereof, embraced in any legal entry or covered by any lawful Hling duly of record in the iproper United States Land Office. or upon which any valid settlement has been made pursuant to law. and the statutory period within which to make entry or tiling of record has not expired: Pw·om'dcd, that this exception shall not continue to apply to any particular tract of land unless the entryman, settler. or claimant continues to complv with the law under which the entry. filing. or settlement was made.
