Ch. 146. 1917. 993 For continuing the work of constructin an 1rriga` tion s tem 1¤¤¤¤¤¤ symmm withm_ the_ diminished Shoshone or Wind gRiver Reservatigi, in Wyoming, including the Big Wind River and Dry Creek Canals, and including the maintenance and operation of completed canals, $150,000, and to enable the Secretary of the Interior to make such additional surveys and examinations as may be required for the purpose of preparing and submitting with the estimates to be submitted before the first regular session of the Sixty-fifth Congress of an estimate for the beginning of construction of a pro°ect for the watering of a portion of the con itionall ceded lands of the Wind River Reservation, in substantial accordiince with the plan outlined in House Document Numbered Seventeen hundred and sixtv—seven, of the Sixty-fourth Congress, second session, or such modification of such plan as the said Secretary may approve, $5,000, reimbursable §°f•¥¤¤¤fim m accordance with the provisions of the Xct of March third, nineteen ° `¤’P` ` hundred and five, and to remain available until expended. The said committee is hereby authorized and empowered ,,;°"°"’ °“‘ '““*°" to examine into the conduct and management of the Bureau of Indian Affairs and all its branches and agencies, their organizationand administration, to examine all books, documents, and papers the said Bureau of Indian Affairs, its branches or agencies, relating to the administration of the business of said bureau, and shall have and is hereby anted authority to subpoena witnesses, comlpel their attendance, afriiinister oaths, and to demand any and a books documents and apeis of whatever nature relating to the aflans of Indians as conriiicted by said bureau, its branc es and agencies. mw Said committee is hereby authorized to employ such clerical and m,°"_ '°"- °‘°·· other assistance, including stenographers, as said committee ina PMN deem necessary in the proper prosecution of its work:_Prom¢d , ,;,,,,,;,,,,,,,,,,m.,,_ That stenographers so gmployed shall not receive for their services exceeding $1 ,r rinte age. _ .
