CHAP. 46.-An Act To amend an Act entitled "An Act providing for an Assistant fI¥?1iⅈigi% Secretary of War, " approved March fifth, eighteen hundred and ninety, and for other purposes. ’ Be it enacted by the Senate and House 0 Re esentatives of the United States of America in Congress assembleg Tlizt an Act entitled "An i}v¤iizI¤i?,’Z?ii€°$'§E¤s- Act providing for an Assistant Secretairixvof War, " aiéproved March °d.i.,,m AMW, Sm fifth, eighteen hundred and ninety ( enty-sixth, tatutes, {page r¤t¤ri¤¤¤¤¤h¤ri¤=¤- seventeen), be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as fol ows: "There shall be in the Department of War an Assistant Secretary, a Second Assistant Secretary, and a Third Assistant Secretary, each of whom shall be appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent oixthe Senate. The Assistant Secretagly shall °°"*P°“'“°°- be entitled to a salary of $5,000 per annum, payable mont y, and the Second Assistant Secretary and Third Assistant Secretary shall each be entitled to a salary of $4,500 per annum, payable monthl and shall perform such duties in the Department of War as shi ‘ be prescribed by the Secretary or as may be required by law." Be it enacted the Senate and House Re esentatives o the United States of gmerica in Congress assengled, That the Congress of the United States of America hereby consents to and ratifies ',gQm‘;' £ the compact and agreement entered into between the States of nm ti, mum. Oregon and Washington relative to regulating protecting, and preserving fish in the boundary waters o the Columbia River and other waters, which compact and agreement is contained in section twenty of chapter one hundred and eighty-eight of the general laws of Oregon for nineteen hundred and fifteen, and section one hundred and sixteen, chaglter thirty-one, of the session laws of Washington for nineteen hun ed and fifteen, and is as follows: "All laws and regulations now existing, or which may be neces- B¤°¤_¤¤*=· sary for regulating, protecting, or preserving Hsh in the waters of the Columbia River, over which the States 0 Oregon and Washington have concurrent `urisdiction, or any other waters within either of said States, which would affect said concurrent jurisdiction, shall be made, changed, altered, and amended in whole or in part, orally with the mutual consent and approbation of both States." _ Othing herein contained shall be construed to affect the right of ,,,§° °"°” the_ United States to regulate commerce, or the jurisdiction of the United States over navigable waters.
