CHAP. 418 .-An Act Granting certain lands to the city of Bountiful, Utah, [Public, No . 309.]

to protect the watershed of the water-supply system of said city . Be it ena cted by the Se nate and Hous e of Represen tatives of the Uni ted States o f America in Congress assem bled, That upon pay- ment of $1 .25 per acre, there is hereby granted to the city of Bounti- ful, Utah, and the Secretary of the Interior is hereby authorized and directed to issue patent to the city of Bountiful, Utah, for certain public lands for the protection of the watershed furnishing the water for said city, the lands being described as follows : The north half, and the south half of the southeast quarter, of section 14 ; the north half of section 22 ; and the south half, and the south half of the north hal f, of section 26, al l in t ownship 2 nort h, of range 1 east, Salt L ake meridian, United States Survey, and containing approximately one thousand two hundred acres, more or less . SEC . 2 . The conveyance hereby authorized shall not include any lands which at the date of the issuance of patent shall be covered by a valid existing bona fide right or claim initiated under the laws of the United States : Provided, That there shall be reserved to the United States all oil, coal, and other mineral deposits that may be found in the lands so granted and the right to prospect for, mine, and remove the same : Provided furth er, That said city sha ll not have the right to sell or convey the land herein granted, or any part thereof, or to devote the same to any other purpose than as herein- be fore des crib ed ; and if the said land shall not be used for such municipal purpose the same, or such parts thereof not so used, shall revert to the United States and the Secretary of the Interior is hereby authorized and empowered to declare a forfeiture of this grant and to cancel the patent issued hereunder after such proceed- ings as he may prescribe upon a finding by him that the land has not been used for the purpose for which it was granted .
