To provide a preliminary ex amination of th e Cheat River a nd its tributar ies in [Public, No. 554.]
the State of West Virginia, with a view to the control of its floods. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, Th at the S ecretary of War be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to cause a prel imina ry exa minati on to be made of the Cheat River and its tributaries in the State of West Virginia, with a view to the control of its floods, in accordance with the provisions of section 3 of an Act entitled "An Act to provide for control of floods of the Mississippi River, and of the Sacramento River, California, and for other purposes",approved March 1, 1917, the cost thereof to be pai d fr om ap prop riati ons heret ofor e or here afte r mad e for exami nations, surveys , and co ntingenc ies of r ivers an d harbor s .
