[Public, No . 572 .] Be it enacted by the Senate and Home of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War is authorized and directed to cause a preliminary examination to be made of the Matanuska River in the vicinity of Matanuska, Alaska, with a view to the control of floods in the said Matanuska River, in accordance with the provisions of section 3 of the Act entitled "An Act to provide for control of floods of the Mississippi Rive r and of the Sa cramento River, Califor nia, an d for ot her pur - poses", approved March 1, 1917, the cost thereof to be paid from appropriations heretofore or hereafter made for examinations, sur- veys, and contingencies of rivers and harbors .
