Courthouse : For personal services for care and protection of the courthouse, under the direction of the United States marshal of the Dist rict of Columb ia, $35, 290, to be expe nded un der the direc- tion of the Att orney G eneral . For repairs and improvements to the courthouse, including repair and maintenance of the mechanical equipment, and for labor and material and every item incident thereto, $5,000, to be expended under the direction of the Architect of the Capitol . COU RT OF AP PEA LS Salaries : For the chief justice and four associate justices, and all other officers and employees of the court ; reporting service ; and not to exceed $520 for necessary expenditures in the conduct of the clerk's office ; in all, $99,300 : Provided, That the reports of the court shall not be sold for a price exceeding that approved by the court and for not more than $6 .50 per volume . j Building : For personal services for care and protection of the United States Court of Appeals Building, including one mechani- cian, un der the direct ion of t he Arch itect of the Ca pitol, $ 8,340 : Provided, That the clerk of the court of appeals shall be the cus- todian of said building, under the direction and supervision of the ustices of said court. MIS CEL LA NEO US Support of convicts : For support, maintenance, and transporta- tion of convicts transferred from District of Columbia ; expenses of shipping remains of deceased convicts to their homes in the United States, and expenses of interment of unclaimed remains of deceased convicts ; expenses incurred in identifying and pursuing escaped convicts and rewards for their recapture ; and discharge gratuiti es prov ided by law ; to be e xpended under t he direc tion of the Atto rney Ge neral, $60,000 . Writs of lunacy : For expenses attending the execution of writs de lunatico inquirendo and commitments thereunder in all cases of indigent insane persons committed or sought to be committed to Saint Elizabeths Hospital by order of the executive authority of the District of Columbia under the provisions of existing law, and expenses of commitments to the District Training School, $1,000 . Miscellaneous court expenses : For such miscellaneous expenses as may be authorized by the Attorney General for the Supreme Court of the District of Columbia and its officers, including the furnish- ing and collecting of evidence where the United States is or may be a party in interest, and including such expenses other than for personal servic es as m ay be au thorize d by the Attorn ey Gener al for the Unit ed Stat es Cour t of App eals, D istrict of Colu mbia, $2 5,000 . Printing and binding : For printing and binding for the Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia, except records and briefs in cases in which the United State s is a party, $5,500 .
