AN ACT IS .227 J Authorizing the construction of buildings for the U nited States Representative [Public, No. 15 9.]

in the Philippine Islands. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States o f America in Congress assembled, That there is hereby authorized to be appropriated not to exceed $750,000 for the nece ssary h ousing f or offi ce and residenc e purpo ses for the est ab- lishment of the United States Representative in the Philippine Is lands , in cludi ng t he ac quis ition of land, the purc hase , con stru ction , and reconst ruction of buil dings, and the procure ment of furnitu re, furnishings, and equipment . Sec. 3. The administration, protection, and development of the aforesaid park shall be exercised under the direction of the Secretary of the Interior by the National Park Service, subject to the provisions of the Act of August 25, 1916 (39 Stat . 535), entitled "An Act to establish a National Park Service, and for other purposes ". as amended : Provided, That the provisions of the Act of June 10, 1920, known as the "Federal Water Power Act", shall not apply to this park.

JOINT RESOLUTION

To amend section 289 of the Criminal Code.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That section 289 of the Criminal Code (U. S. C., title 18, sec. 468) be, and it is hereby, amended to read as follows "SEC. 289. Whoever, within the territorial limits of any State, organized Territory, or District, but within or upon any of the places now existing or hereafter reserved or acquired, described in section 272 of the Criminal Code (U. S . C., title 18, sec . 451), shall do or omit the doing of any act or thing which is not made penal by any laws of Congress, but which if committed or omitted within the jurisdiction of the State, Territory, or District in which such place is situated, by the laws thereof in force on April 1, 1935 . and remaining in force at the time of the doing or omitting the doing of such act or thing, would be penal, shall be deemed guilty of a like offense and be subject to a like punishment. Approved, June 20, 1935 . [CHAPTER 286 .] AN ACT To amend section 4865 of the Revised Statutes, as amended . Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States o f America in Congress assembled, That the number of beneficiaries from the several States and Territories authorized by s ection 4865 of the Rev ised St atutes, as amen ded, for admiss ion to the collegiate department of the Columbia Institution for the Deaf, be, and it hereby is, increased from one hundred and twenty- five to one hundred and forty-five .
