AN ACT [H.R.3410.] Making appropriations for the Executive Office and sundry independent execu- tive bureaus, boards, commissions, and offices for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1936, and for other purposes . Be it enacted by the Senate and House o f Representatives o f the Independent Offices United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following Appropriation

COMPENSATION OF THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT For compensation of the President of the United States, $75,000 . For compensat ion of the Vice Presid ent of the United States, Presi- $15,000 . OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT Salaries : For personal services in the office of the President, including the Secretary to the President, and two assistant secre- taries to the President at $9,500 each ; $125,884 : Provided, That employ ees of t he exec utive d epartmen ts and other es tablish ments of the executive branch of the Government may be detailed from time to time to the office of the President of the United States for such temporary assistance as may be deemed necessary . Contingent expenses : For contingent expenses of the Executive Office, including stationery, record books, telegrams, telephones, books for library, furniture and carpets for offices, automobiles, expenses of garage, including labor, special services, and miscel- laneous items, to be expended in the discretion of the President, $50,350, of which $5,000 shall be immediately available . For printing and binding, $2,700. Traveling expenses : For traveling and official entertainment expenses of the Preside nt of t he Unite d State s, to be expend ed in his discretion and accounted for on his certificate solely, $25,000 . EXECUTIVE MANSION AND GROUNDS For the care, maintenance, repair and alteration, refurnishing, improvem ent, he ating, a nd ligh ting, in cluding electri c p owe r a nd fixtures of the Executive Mansion, the Executive Mansion green- houses, including reconstruction, and the Executive Mansion grounds, and tr aveling expense s, to b e expend ed as t he Presi dent ma y deter- mine, notwithstanding the provisions of any other Act, $143,298, to be immediately available . Total, Ex ecutive Office, $437,232 . INDEPENDENT ESTABLISHMENTS AMERICAN BATTLE MONUMENTS COMMISSION For every expenditure requisite for or incident to the work of the American Battle Monuments Commission authorized by the Act of March 4, 1923 (U. S. C., title 36, sets. 121-133), and by Executive Order Numbered 6614 of Februa ry 26, 1934, including the acquisi- tion of land or i ntere st i n lan d in fore ign count ries for carr ying out the pu rposes o f said Act and Executi ve orde r withou t submi ssion to
