OCEAN AND LAKE SURVEYS, BUREAU OF NAVIGATION For hydrographic surveys, including the pay of the necessary hydrographic surveyors, cartographic draftsmen, and recorders, and for the purchase of nautical books, charts, and sailing directions, $80,000 : Provided, That the sum to be paid out of this appropriation for employees assigned to group IV (b) and those performing simi- lar services carried under native and alien schedules in the Schedule of Wages for Civil Employees in the Field Service of the Navy Department shall not exceed $34,000 . NAV AL RESERVE For expenses of organizing, administering, and recruiting the Naval Reserve and Naval Militia, including the designing, purchas- ing, and engraving of trophies ; pay and allowances of officers and enlisted men of the Naval Reserve when employed on authorized training duty ; mileage for officers while traveling under orders to and fro m train ing dut y ; transportat ion of enl isted men to and fro m training duty ; and subsistence and transfers en route, or cash in lieu thereof ; subsistence of enlisted men during the actual period of training duty ; subsistence of officers and enlisted men of the Fleet Naval Reserve while performing authorized training or other duty without pay ; pay, mileage, and allowances of officers of the Naval Reserve and pay, allowances, subsistence and transportation with subsistence and transfers en route, or cash in lieu thereof of enlisted men of the Naval Reserve when ordered to active duty in connection with the instruction, training, and drilling of the Naval Reserve ; pay and all owances, i ncluding t ravel and other allo wances as author- ized by law (excluding clothing and small-stores issues and uniform gratuities), of aviation cadets of the Naval Reserve when ordered to active duty, including active duty undergoing training ; pay of officers and enlisted men of the Fleet Naval Reserve for the per- formance of not to exceed forty-eight drills per annum or other equivalent instruction or duty, or appropriate duties, and adminis- trative duties, exclusive, however of pay, allowances, or other expenses on account of members of any class of the Naval Reserve incident to their bei ng given f light trai ning unles s, as a co ndition precedent, they shall have been found by such agency as the Secre- tary o f the Navy may design ate p hysic ally and p sychol ogica lly qualified t o serve as pilots of naval air craft, $9, 277,109, o f which amount not mor e than $150,00 0 shall be ava ilable for mai ntenanc e and rental of armorie s, includi ng pay of necessary janitors, and for wharfage ; not more than $81,000 shall be available for employees assigned to group IV (b) and those performing similar services carried under native and alien schedules in the Schedule of Wages for Civil Employees in the Field Service of the Navy Department ;
