MARINE CORPS PA Y, MARINE CO RPS Pay of officers, active list : For pay and allowances prescribed by law for all officers on the active list-pay and allowance, $4,166,211, includ ing no t to e xceed $245,0 17 for increa sed pa y for making aeria l flights, none of which shall be available for increased pay for making aerial flights by nonflying officers at a rate in excess of $1,440 per annum, which shall be the legal maximum rate as to such nonflying officers - subsistence allowance, $532,608 ; rental allowance, $653,181 ; in all, 5,352,000 ; and no part of such sum shall be available to pay active-d uty pay a nd allowa nces to o fficers on the re tired lis t ; For pay o f officer s prescri bed by la w on the retired l ist, $1,4 25,000 ; Pay of enlisted men, active list : For pay and allowances of non- commissioned officers, musicians, and privates, as prescribed by law, and for the expenses of clerks of the United States Marine Corps traveling under orders, including not to exceed $250 for the expenses of attendance upon meetings of technical, professional, scientific, and other organizations, when, in the judgment of the Secretary of the Navy, such attendance would be of benefit in the conduct of the work of the Marine Corps, and including additional compensation for enlisted men of the Marine Corps qualified as expert riflemen, sharpshooters, marksmen, or regularly detailed as gun captains, gun pointe rs, co oks, m essmen , incl uding interes t on d eposit s by e nliste d men, post-exchange debts of deserters, and of men discharged or sentenced to terms of imprisonment while in debt to the United States, under such rules as the Secretary of the Navy may prescribe, and the authorized travel allowance of discharged enlisted men, and for prizes for excellence in gunnery exercises and target practice, and communication competitions, and for pay of enlisted men desig- nated as Nav y mail clerk s and assist ant Nav y mail clerk s both afloa t and ashore, and for gratuities to enlisted men discharged not under honorable conditions-pay and allowances, $8,204,512 ; allowance for lodgin g and subsis tence, $640, 488 ; i n all, $8,845,00 0 ; For pay and allowances prescribed by law of enlisted men on the retired list, $841,000 ; Undrawn clothing : For payment to discharged enlisted men for clothing undrawn, $320,000 ; For pay and allowances of the Marine Corps Reserve (a) excluding transferred and assigned men, $923,720 ; (b) transferred men, $443,- 280 ; in all, $1,367,000 . 75T H CONGRESS, 1ST SESSION-CH . 140-APRIL 27, 19 37
