75TH CONGRESS, 1ST SESSION-CHS. 733, 735-AUGUST 21, 23, 1937 the exposition, any article entered hereunder may be abandoned to the Gov ernment or des troyed under customs superv ision, whereup on any duties on such article shall be remitted : Provided further, That articles which have been admitted without payment of duty for exhi- bition under any tariff law, and which have remained in continuous customs custody or under a customs exhibition bond, and imported articles in bonded warehouses under the general tariff law may be accorded the privilege of transfer to and entry for exhibition at the said exposition under such regulations as the Secretary of the Treasury shall prescribe : And provided further, That the Int erna- tional Petroleum Exposition shall be deemed, for customs purposes only, to be the sole consi gnee of al l merchand ise importe d under th e provisions of this Act, and that the actual and necessary customs charges for labor, services, and other expenses in connection with the entry, exa mination, appraiseme nt, releas e, or cust ody, toget her with the necess ary charge s for sala ries of cu stoms offi cers and e mployees in connection with the supervision, custody of, and accounting for, articles imported under the provisions of this Act, shall be reimbursed by the International Petroleum Exposition to the Government of the United S tates unde r regulatio ns to be p rescribed by the Sec retary of the Treasury, and that receipts from such reimbursements shall be deposited as refunds to the appropriation from which paid, in the manner provided for in section 524, Tariff Act of 1930 . That the Government of the United States is not by this Act obligated to any expense in connection with the holding of such exposition and is not hereafter to be obligated other than for suitable representation thereat . Be it enacted b y the S enate and House o f Representat ives o f t he United States o f America in Congress assembled, That subdivision (a) of section 1 of the Act entitled "An Act to further amend the naturalization laws, and for other purposes", approved May 25, 1932 (47 Stat. 165 ; U. S. C., Supp. VII, title 8, sec. 392b (a) ), shall, as herein amended, continue in force and effect to include petitions for citizenship fil ed prior to May 25, 1938, with any cour t having naturali- zation jurisdiction : Provided, Tha t for the purpos es of this Act clause (1) of subdivision (a) of section 1 of the aforesaid Act of May 25, 1932, is a mended by s triking ou t the word s "all suc h period" and in lieu thereof inserting the words "the five years immediately preceding the f iling of his petiti on ." SEC.2. The provisions of section 1 of this Act are hereby extended to include any alien lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence who departed therefrom between August 1914 and April 5, 1917, or who departed therefrom subsequent to April 5, 1917, for the purpose of serving, and actually served prior to Novem- ber 11, 1918, in the military or naval forces of any of the countries allied with the United States in the World War and was discharged from such service under honorable circumstances : Provided, That before any applicant for citizenship under this section is admitted to citizenship, the court shall be satisfied by competent proof that he is entitled to and has complied in all respects with the provisions of Na tura liz atio n of alien veterans residing in the United States . 47 Stat. 165. 8U.S.C.§392b(a); Supp. II, § 392b (a) .
