EL SALVADOR-RECIPROCAL TRADE-FEB. 19, 1937 WHEREAS such modifications of existing duties and other import restrictions and such continuance of existing customs and excise treat- ment as are set forth and provided for in the said Agreement and the two Schedules thereunto annexed are required and appropriate to carry out the said Agreement; WHEREAS it is stipulated in Article XVII of the said Agreement that the Agreement shall come into force on the thirtieth day following proclamation thereof by the President of the United States of America and the President of the Republic of El Salvador, or should the proclamations be issued on different days, on the thirtieth day follow- ing the date of the later in time of such proclamations; WHEREAS the said Agreement, including the two Schedules, was proclaimed by the President of the Republic of El Salvador on April 30, 1937; Now, THEREFORE, be it known that I, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Presi- dent of the United States of America, acting under the authority conferred by the said Tariff Act of 1930, as amended by the said Act of June 12, 1934, do hereby proclaim the said Agreement, including the said Schedules, to the end that the same and every part thereof may be observed and fulfilled with good faith by the United States of America and the citizens thereof on and after May 31, 1937, the thirtieth day following May 1, 1937, the date of this my proclamation of the said Agreement. PURSUANT to the proviso in Section 350 (a) (2) of the said Tariff Act of 1930, as amended by the said Act of June 12, 1934, I shall from time to time notify the Secretary of the Treasury of the countries with respect to which application of the duties herein proclaimed is to be suspended.
