PROCLAMATIONS, 1937 ENLARGING THE DEATH VALLEY NATIONAL MONUMENT-CALIFORNIA AND NEVADA BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS certain public lands contiguous to the Death Valley National Monument, established by the Proclamation of February 11, 1933 (47 Stat. 2554), have situated thereon various objects of historic and scientific interest, and are necessary for the proper care, manage- ment and protection of unusual features of scientific interest within the said monument; and WHEREAS it appears that it would be in the public interest to reserve such lands as an addition to the Death Valley National Monu- ment: NOW, THEREFORE, I, FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT, Presi- dent of the United States of America, under and by virtue of the authority vested in me by section 2 of the Act of June 8, 1906 (ch. 3060, 34 Stat. 225; U. S . C . title 16 sec. 431), do proclaim that, subject to the provisions of the Act of Congress approved June 13, 1933 (48 Stat. 139), and to all valid existing rights, the following described lands in California and Nevada be, and the same are hereby added to and made a part of the Death Valley National Monument: MOUNT DIABLO MERIDIAN-CALIFORNIA T.18S., R.44E., that part southwest of former west boundary of Monument (unsurveyed). T.19S., R.44E., that part southwest of former west boundary of Monument (unsurveyed). T.19S., R.45E., that part southwest of former west boundary of Monument. T.20S., R.45E., that part west of former west boundary of Monument. SAN BERNARDINO MERIDIAN-CALIFORNIA T.25N., R.3E., those parts of secs. 5, 8, 16 and 17 lying southwest of a line parallel to and 500 ft. northeasterly from the center line of Dante's View highway. T.18N., R.4E., secs. 1 to 12, inclusive; N"i sec. 13; N%sec. 14; N% sec. 15; N% sec. 16; NY sec. 17; N% sec. 18 (partly unsurveyed). Tps.19,20and21N., R.4E. (partly unsurveyed).
