R. 5211] [Private, No. 410] Mat Hensley and others. JurisdictionofCourt to hear claims. AN ACT For the relief of Maude Sullivan. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Maude Sullivan, widow of the late Lieutenant Colonel William B. Sullivan, United States Marine Corps, the sum of $1,157, in full satisfaction of all claims against the United States for the loss of certain of the personal property of the late Lieutenant Colonel Sulli- van on September 1, 1923, in the earthquake at Kamakura: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the con- trary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved, June 29, 1940. [CHAPTER 474] AN ACT For the relief of Mary Camastro, a minor. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to the legal guardian of Mary Camastro, a minor, of Corona, New York, the sum of $5,000 in full settlement of all claims against the United States Government on account of permanent injuries received by the said Mary Camastro, by a United States Army truck on April 4, 1936, about 1 o'clock postmeridian, at northwest corner of Northern Boulevard and One Hundred and Third Street, Corona, Queens County, New York: Provided, That no part of the amount appro- priated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding.
