AN ACT Conferring jurisdiction upon the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts to hear, determine, and render judgment upon the claims of Marjorie E. Drake, Edith Mae Drake, Minnie L. Bickford, and Irene M. Paolini. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That jurisdiction is hereby conferred upon the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts to hear, determine, and render judgment upon the claims of Marjorie E. Drake, Edith Mae Drake, Minnie L. Bickford, and Irene M. Paolini, all of Westboro, Massachusetts, against the United States for compensation for personal injuries sus- taned by them when the horse-drawn wagon in which they were riding as passengers was struck by a United States Coast Guard vehicle on Route Numbered 9, east of Park Street, in Westboro, Massachusetts, on September 7, 1943, and for reimbursement of med- ical, hospital, and other expenses incurred by them as a result of such injuries. SEO. 2. In the determination of such claims, the United States shall be held liable for damages, and for any acts committed by any of its officers or employees, to the same extent as if the United States were a private person. SCO. 3. Suit upon such claims may be instituted at any time within one year after the enactment of this Act, notwithstanding the lapse of time or any statute of limitations. Proceedings for the determina- tion of such claims, and appeals from and payment of any judgment thereon, shall be in the same manner as in the case of claims over which such court has jurisdiction under the provisions of paragraph "Twentieth" of section 24 of the Judicial Code, as amended.
