ICHAPTER 297] AN ACT To revive and reenact the Act entitled "An Act creating the Arkansas-Mississippi Bridge Commission; defining the authority, power, and duties of said Com- mission; and authorizing said Commission and its successors and assigns to construct, maintain, and operate a bridge across the Mississippi River at or near Friar Point, Mississippi, and Helena, Arkansas, and for other purposes", approved May 17, 1939. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Act approved May 17, 1939, heretofore extended by Acts of Congress approved May 27, 1940, and July 14, 1941, and February 12, 1944, creating the Arkansas-Mississippi Bridge Commission and author- izing such Commission to construct, maintain, and operate a bridge and approaches thereto across the Mississippi River, at or near Friar Point, Mississippi, and Helena, Arkansas, be, and is hereby, revived and reenacted: Provided, That this Act shall be null and void unless the actual construction of the bridge herein referred to be commenced within one year and completed within three years from the date of approval hereof. July 14, 1945 To amend an Act entitled "An Act to provide for the purchase of public lands Is 4971 for home and other sites", approved June 1, 1938 (52 Stat. 609). [Public Law 1461 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Act entitled "An Act to provide for the purchase of public lands for home and other sites", approved June 1, 1938 (52 Stat. 609), is hereby amended by striking out the words "prescribed: Provided further, That this Act shall not apply to any lands in the Territory of Alaska", and by inserting in lieu thereof the words "prescribe: Pro- vided further, That any employee of the Department of the Interior, stationed in Alaska, notwithstanding such employment, may, in the discretion of the Secretary, purchase or lease one such tract in the Territory of Alaska, except business sites, under this Act".
