SALARIES, OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES Salaries, officers and employees: For an additional amount, fiscal year 1945, for "Salaries, officers and employees, House of Repre- sentatives", pursuant to Public Law 512 Seventy-eighth Congress, approved December 20, 1944, and Public Law 2, Seventy-ninth Con- gress, approved February 13, 1945, $26,000: Provided, That the rate of compensation of the clerk of any standing committee shall not be increased pursuant to the second proviso of section 1 of the Act of December 20, 1944 (Public Law 512, Seventy-eighth Congress), by more than $500 per annum over the rate of compensation prevailing on December 6, 1944 (in case of a vacancy, the rate last paid).
