II1.—xHfI Act for the relief of Thomas March 3, 1815. Be it enacted, <§•c., That the proper accounting officers of the navy Claim for dedepartment be, and they are hereby authorized and directed to audit ¤l\‘¤°*l°¤ of and settle the claim of Thomas Sprigg, on account of the destruction :p:;v,,°_j,l5i;,°°‘ of a quantity of hempen yarns,_in the ropewalk, in the vicinity of Balti- ` more, which were destroyed by order of General Foreman, by ascertaining, or causing to be ascertained, the value of the yarns, in such manner and upon such terms as may be just and reasonable. Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the amount of the said valua- APP¤'°P¥i¤*l°¤· tion, when ascertained as aforesaid, shall be paid to the said Thomas Sprigg, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated. Be it enacted, &c., That the accounting officers of the navy be, and Workman to they are hereby directed to adjust and settle all claims for losses that g:Sl::',‘;,{g;3.° have been sustained by artificers, mechanics, and other workmen, in the mcg, tools, &,,,_ employ and service of the United States, for tools and other articles essential to, and connected with, their trade and occupation, which have been destroyed by fire, in consequence of burning the buildings of the navy yard, in the city of Washington, and to cause to be paid over to such persons respectively, the amount found due for such losses. $1:0.2. Stone, Noah Broadwell, and Nathan Averill, jun., on account of the destruction of their houses and property, by the order of Major- General Alexander Macomb; by ascertaining, or causing to be ascertained, the value of the said property, at the time of its destruction, in such manner and upon such terms, as may appear reasonable and just.
