[CHAPTER 469] AN ACT To amend section 4 of the Act entitled "An Act to control the possession, sale, transfer, and use of pistols and other dangerous weapons in the District of Columbia, to provide penalties, to prescribe rules of evidence, and for other purposes", approved July 8, 1932 (sec. 22, 3204 D. C . Code, 1940 edition). Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That section 4 of the Act entitled "An Act to control the possession, sale, transfer, and use of pistols and other dangerous weapons in the District of Columbia, to provide penalties, to prescribe rules of evidence, and for other purposes", approved July 8, 1932 (sec. 22, 3204 D. C . Code, 1940 edi- tion), be amended by changing the last period to a colon and adding the following language: "Provided,That arrests, without a warrant, and searches and seizures pursuant thereto, may be made for violation of this section, by police officers, as in the case of a felony, upon probable cause that the person arrested is violating this section at the time of the arrest; but no evidence discovered in the course of any arrest, search, or seizure authorized by this proviso shall be admis- sible in any criminal proceeding against the person arrested unless at the time of such arrest he was carrying a pistol or other dangerous weapon on or about his person." [CHAPTER 470] AN ACT August 4, 1947 To amend section 107 of title 2 of the Canal Zone Code, approved June 19, 1934. [H. R. 1260] [Public Law 3451 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That section 107 of title 2 of the Canal Zone Code, approved June 19, 1934, is amended by adding at the end thereof the following: "In the case of any annuitant retired under the provisions of this article prior to July 29,1942, the annuity shall be recomputed and paid in accordance with section 96 of this title, as amended July 29, 1942." SEC. 2 . Nothing herein shall be so construed as to reduce the annuity of any such person nor shall any increase in annuity commence before the first day of the month following the month in which this Act is approved.
