Section 327 of the Act entitled "An Act to establish a code 31 .satc. d24l 50l. of law for the District of Columbia", approved March 3, 1901, as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows: Suitsbyand against "SEC. 327. AN ACT To amend the Act entitled "An Act to make provision for the care and treatment of members of the National Guard, Organized Reserves, Reserve Officers' Training Corps, and Citizens' Military Training Camps who are injured or contract diseases while engaged in military training, and for other purposes", approved June 15, 1936, as amended, and for other purposes. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Act entitled "An Act to make provision for the care and treatment of members of the National Guard, Organized Reserve, Reserve Officers' Training Corps, and Citizens' Military Training Camps who are injured or contract disease while engaged in military training, and for other purposes", approved June 15, 1936 (49 Stat. 1507), as amended (Act July 15, 1939, 53 Stat. 1042; sec. 5, Act October 14, 1940, 54 Stat. 1137- 32 U. S. C. 164d; 10 U. S. C. 455e), is amended by adding at the end thereof the following new section: "SEC. 2 . As used in this Act, the term 'in time of peace' shall include that period after September 2, 1945 (the date of formal surrender by Japan), which is prior to the first day on which the United States is, by action of the Congress, or the President, or both, no longer engaged in any war in which the United States is engaged on the date of enact- ment of this section. "SEC. 3 . The foregoing amendment shall be applicable to the Depart- ment of the Air Force to the same extent as if enacted prior to the passage of the National Security Act of 1947."
