Anderson from May 1, 1945, to October 16, 1946, for service as regular city letter carrier shall be considered to have been authorized: Provided, That no part of the amount appro- priated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved March 25, 1949. [CHAPTER 35] AN ACT For the relief of Doris Marie Richard. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Doris Marie Richard of Dorchester, Massachusetts, the sum of $904, in full satisfaction of her claim against the United States for compensation for personal injuries, property damage, and loss of earnings sustained by her and for reimbursement of hospital, medical, and other expenses incurred by her as a result of an accident which occurred when the automobile in which she was riding was struck by a United States Army vehicle at the intersection of Beach Street and Billings Road, in Quincy, Massachusetts, on June 10, 1942: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. [CHAPTER 40] AN ACT To provide for permanent residence status of Richard Kim. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That in the admin- istration of the immigration and naturalization laws Richard Kim, who served as a member of the armed forces of the United States, shall be considered to have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence as of the date of his last entry into the United States, upon the pay- ment of the visa fee of $10 and the head tax of $8. The Secretary of State is directed to instruct the proper quota-control officer to deduct one number from the appropriate quota for the first year that said quota is available.
