Structural and mechanical care: For the necessary expenditures for mechanical and structural maintenance, including minor improvements, equipment, supplies, waterproof wearing apparel, and personal and other services, $320,000. Furniture and furnishings: For furniture, partitions, screens, shelving, and electrical work pertaining thereto and repairs thereof, office and library equipment, apparatus, and labor-saving devices, $50,000. Salaries, Library proper: For the Librarian, the Librarian Emeritus, and other personal services including special and temporary services and extra special services of regular employees (not exceeding $5,000) at rates to be fixed by the Librarian, services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 55a), and personal services for printing and binding, $3,124,204, of which so much as may be necessary may be transferred to other agencies of the Government for the purpose of investigating the loyalty of Library employees, and for health service program as authorized by law.
